DescriptionImpatiens Walleriana prefer humus rich, moist as well as well drained soil mixture. Try to keep your plants light shade or indirect sunlight during initial stages to protect it from heavy rain and direct sunlight specially for moths like august, september, october. If you are living in south asia or india it is very important to follow this routine. After end monsoon you can keep it in open sunlight.
Container is best to grow Impatiens Walleriana. For a 8 inch pot one plant is sufficient but if you are growing in a big container keep at least 6 inches distance with each plant. For flower beds, plant 6 to 12 inches apart so the plants will stay low to the ground.
You can mix in compost or a slow-release fertilizer before transplanting to help the plants.
Impatiens flowers do best if fertilized regularly. Use water soluble fertilizer on your impatiens every two weeks through spring and summer. You can also use slow release fertilizer at the beginning of the spring season and once more halfway through summer.
If you have Impatiens Walleriana plants in containers, like big plastic container, use a sterile or soilless growing mixture to ensure better drainage for the plants.
The most important thing to remember about impatiens plants is to water them regularly. Keep them moist, but not too wet. If the plants dry out, they will lose their leaves. If you over-water the plants, this could encourage fungal diseases. It is better to spray fungicide every 15-20 days interval.
Remember container plants will need more water.
Impatiens do not need to be deadheaded. They self-clean their spent blooms and will bloom profusely all season long.
