Description | Hamelia Firebush is a beautiful flowering species of small trees or perennial shrubs belonging to the coffee tree or madder family, rubiaceae. The fiery blooms on the plant have earned the plant common names including: the firecracker shrub,firebush scarlet bus,redhead.The beautiful flowers of the Hamelia Firebush plant are accented by whorls of pointed, oval, gray-green leaves that may be up to 6” inches long with pink veins. Hamelia Firebush thrive well in the presence of full sunlight. Water them enough to keep their soil moist. The soil on which they are supposed to be planted must be sandy loam and well-drained. Ideal temperature to ensure healthy growth is 20 to 35 degree celsius. In terms of feeding, use any organic fertilizers. Lightly head back only occasionally. Propagation is by softwood stem cuttings, seed. |
